Dhaulagiri Trekking

Dhaulagiri trekking provides massive mountains range of Dhaulagiri consisting of fifteen 7000 meter peaks is magnificent. Trekking of the main paths is not only possible, but can be immensely rewarding, though you do need a sense of adventure and an increased ability to deal with unexpected. Geographically, it is a land of dramatic contrast. Trekking around the giant Himalayan Peak Dhawalagiri (8th highest Himalayan Peaks of the world) is one of the most challenging trekks. The trek goes through big challenging mountain passes, crossing over French pass (5360 meter) and Thapa Pass (5200 meter); It is a challenging walk on an icy track. The massive mountains range of Dhaulagiri consisting of fifteen 7000 meter peaks is magnificent. Trekking of the main paths is not only possible, but can be immensely rewarding, though you do need a sense of adventure and an increased ability to deal with unexpected. Trekking in this region means an exploration of the wild. Recently reopened this thrilling region shows its long kept secrets, like the Gandaki Gorge, the deepest Gorge in the world !! Dhaulagiri means "white mountain" though many mountains over the world have names which translate to white mountain, this is without doubt the most astonishing one.

Difficulties of the Trek

Dhaulagiri trekking is both technical and highly strenuous. Excellent physical condition is essential and mountaineering experience is preferable.

Following rough terrain, they involve steep ascents to high altitudes with the possibility of some rope climbing. Stamina is needed to complete one of these treks.

Minimum Altitude : 1010 m.
Maximum Altitude : 5360 m.
Seasons : September to late December and February to Late June.

Transportation : Bus, Car, Land Cruiser or Van.
Total Days : 21 Days (Kathmandu - Kathmandu)
Walking Hours : Approximately 6 - 7 hours each day.

 

Detail Itinerary of Dhaulagiri Trek

Days 1 : Drive from Kathmandu to Beni by bus (9 hours driving).

Days 2 : Trek to Babiyachaour.

Days 3 : Trek to Darbang.

Days 4 : Trek to Takum.

Days 5 : Trek to Muri.

Days 6 : Trek to Boghara.

Days 7 : Trek to Doban.

Days 8 : Trek to Italian Base Camp.

Days 9 : Acclimatization day at Italian Base Camp.

Days 10 : Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

Days 11 : Trek to Hidden Valley (5000m.) crossing French Pass (5360m.).

Days 12 : Rest day at Hidden Valley.

Days 13 : Trek to Yak Kharka crossing the Thapa Pass (5200m).

Days 14 : Trek down to Tukuche.

Days 15 : Trek to Ghasa.

Days 16 : Trek to Tatopani.

Days 17 : Rest day at Tatopani (Natural hot spring).

Days 18 : Trek to Ghorepani.

Days 19 : Trek to Tikedhunga.

Days 20 : Trek to Nayapul (4 hours), then drive to Pokhara.

Days 21 : Drive Pokhara to Kathmandu.
